Announcement of Executive Director Resignation

It is with a mix of deep gratitude and sadness that the Board of Directors of SOTENI International announces the departure of Randie Marsh as Executive Director. Randie has played a pivotal role in SOTENI International’s work in Kenya since 2005, and we will miss her greatly. We want to thank her for her 13 years of exceptional service, including:

  • Leading our partnership with P&G Children's Safe Drinking Water Program to bring clean water to over 2,000 persons affected by HIV/AIDS every month;

  • Supporting the renovations of SOTENI’s dispensary to improve clinical care for our community;

  • Increasing the exposure of young persons to other cultures through work-study visits to Kenya, including two students in the University of Cincinnati’s “Gen-One” Program, which supports students who are the first in their families to attend college;

  • Leading fundraising events, including the annual Gala of Hope;

  • Helping SOTENI International reach Better Business Bureau accreditation;

  • Partnering with local organizations in the fight against HIV and AIDS, including Stop AIDS, Caracole, and Bow Tie;

  • Mentoring and being a role model to staff, interns and volunteers;and

  • Working in countless other ways to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS in rural Kenya and to improve the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS.

During the next month, we will be conducting a search to find the new SOTENI International Executive Director. During this transition period, it is our priority to find the best individual to lead, while still maintaining a stable and effective organization. We will share the job announcement soon and ask for your help in identifying candidates who can help SOTENI International continue along this successful trajectory.

We want to say "asante sana" (thank you) to Randie for the dedication, passion and motivation she has given to SOTENI International. She will be greatly missed by the Board, committee members, interns, volunteers and partners. We look forward to following her next steps, and are hopeful and excited for the next chapter of SOTENI International as we work to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS in rural Kenya and to improve the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS.
